Melanie specialises in Medical Negligence, Personal Injury and Mental Health cases.

Qualifying as a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in November 1996, Melanie now has over 20 years of experience in the law.

She joined Youngs Law (formerly Swain & Co) in March 2006 as a senior fee earner at the firm’s Southampton office before moving to Havant in 2012.

In 2013 Melanie became a Senior Associate and now heads both the Clinical Negligence/Personal Injury and Mental Health departments.

Melanie has a wide experience in injury claims and mental health law.  Her tactical awareness and technical expertise mean that Melanie can pursue even the most difficult cases combining that knowledge with tenacity and empathy.
Melanie is an able and determined advocate representing her clients effectively and eloquently, giving a voice to the needs and views of the most vulnerable.  Melanie has been accepted onto the Law Society Mental Health Panel and regularly represents the interests of her clients before the Mental Health Review Tribunal.

Melanie works tirelessly for her clients. She says…

“I have always wanted to be a Lawyer and this is driven by the desire to help people. In this area of law, medical negligence, my clients want answers first and then financial compensation. I will go ‘the extra mile’ to make sure that, over and above the standard of service that should be expected, my clients’ feel valued and that I am ‘on their side’! This firm’s vision is ‘to empower people to make positive change’ and that is at the heart of what I do every day!”

Melanie is praised by her clients for, being approachable, understanding, giving clear and professional advice and, above all, is determined in achieving the results they need.
In her spare time, Melanie is a busy mother of two children and one Labradoodle.  She enjoys the great outdoors, running and music.
