Cardiology & Heart Disease Claims

If you have suffered due to the misdiagnosis of a heart disease, your life may have been turned upside down unnecessarily. If this has happened to you or a loved one, you may be owed compensation.

The term ‘cardiology’ simply refers to the dealing of disorders relating to the heart. Heart diseases are, by nature very distressing for patients and their families and so cases of negligence can have a huge impact.

If you’re misdiagnosed or incorrectly diagnosed it can lead to huge amounts of stress being placed upon a patient or family and can sometimes lead to more serious matters where a condition is allowed to worsen.

If you or a loved one has faced negligence in relation to a heart disease, please contact our team of experienced solicitors by filling out a contact form or calling us on the number below.

What is Cardiology?

Cardiology refers to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the heart.

Examples of Cardiac problems can include:

  • Abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias)
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Ischaemic heart disease
  • Angina and heart attacks

What can I claim for?

You may be unsure as to what classes a cardiology and what you you’re able to claim for. It is most common that claims are made where there has been a misdiagnosis of the heart disease. Many symptoms displayed from cardiac conditions can be associated with those of other conditions, which can lead to mistakes being made if adequate care is not taken in diagnosing such conditions.

Some examples include:

  • Insufficient examination and monitoring
  • Carrying out a procedure that the doctor is not competent to carry out
  • Heart attacks being misdiagnosed as gastritis/indigestion
  • Medication errors
  • Failure to correctly treat heart failure causing injuries
  • Delay in treatment of high blood pressure causing injuries
  • Failure to manage arrhythmia appropriately, including a cardiac arrest
  • Rota/transfer issues

Cardiothoracic Surgery

If you have been diagnosed correctly and gone in for cardiothoracic surgery (heart surgery) and and suffered as a result of negligence during the procedure, you may also be able to claim. For more information on what things may have gone wrong and what you can claim for from negligence during surgery visit our cardiothoracic Surgery page.
