Family

Breakdown of family relationships brings challenges at many levels, but we are here to listen to you and offer clear and concise advice which is tailored to your circumstances and your needs.

Our specialist family solicitors are here to provide thorough and confidential legal advice.

Feel free to write to us if you have a question about your matter. We are more than happy to answer your queries and assist you with your matter should you choose to instruct us.

Our family department deals with the problems that arise on the breakdown of family relationships, whether they are difficulties with partners, children or families. Among our team of specialists is a member of The Law Society Children Panel in order that you can be assured that you will receive specialist, personally tailored legal advice. We also work with the Family Mediation Centre in Staffordshire to try and ensure that issues are resolved swiftly with the minimum of fuss or disruption.

Family Law includes divorce, separation, matrimonial/cohabitational finance and property, children matters, Care Proceedings and domestic violence/injunctions, and a member of our dedicated legal team will be able to advise and represent you within these areas of law.

We deal with married couples, civil partners, unmarried couples, same-sex couples, parents, children as well as all members of the wider family.

Public Funding or ‘Legal Aid’ is available for Care Proceedings and Domestic Violence/injunctions (where financially eligible). From April 2013, Legal Aid is no longer generally available for divorce, matrimonial finance or children matters, although in certain circumstances, Legal Aid is still available for these matters. We will go through your case with you and tell you if you are eligible for Legal Aid. If you are not able to get Legal Aid, we will provide you with a tailored fixed fee for your matter, in order that you can consider whether you are able to afford legal representation. In any event, you will know how much your matter is likely to cost.

In certain circumstances, you may wish to have specific legal advice, and then continue to act for yourself. We can help by providing you with specific advice, when you want it, together with continued advice during the course of your case, when you need it. In that way you can benefit by having legal advice as to the issues and matters you need to deal with, yet limiting your legal costs as you will continue to act ‘in person’.
